Tonopah, or Tony for short, is an approximately two-year-old Mastiff mix in the care of Big Hearts for Big Breeds, and his story begins with heartbreak. Tony was witnessed being dumped, an experience that would leave any dog feeling unsure of the world. Understandably, he arrived nervous and cautious — but now that he’s safe in a loving foster home, we’re starting to see him slowly come out of his shell. Tony is a sensitive boy who does well with children and is learning that humans can be kind and consistent again. In the home, he can be protective, so he’ll need an adopter with large-breed experience who understands boundaries, structure, and confidence-building. He is currently working on kennel training and potty training and is making progress with patience and routine. Because of his prey drive, Tony is not a good fit for a home with small animals. His comfort level with large dogs is still being evaluated. What Tony truly needs is a calm, experienced home willing to give him the time and reassurance he deserves. With safety, leadership, and love, this deserving boy has every chance to become a loyal, devoted companion.
